Trekking in Bhutan is a unique adventurer. Bhutan

Glaciers, Base Camp, amazing flora, Fauna and huge

opportunity to explore country and its culture,
walking through pristine trails from few days to
couple of week. Treks can be long and arduous, but
Bhutan's incredible beauty, clean unspoiled trials and

challenging treks in the entire Himalayas, such as the
legendary 24 day Snowman Trek.
The most popular trekking area is Jhomolhari
Trek lies into north western Bhutan passes near
Tibetan border scattered hamlets, forested valleys and
high alpine meadows where yak herders live in
solitude. The second most popular Trekking route known
as Laya-Gasa Trek yields spectacular mountain
views of Mt Masang Gang, and rest stops at the
hospitable village of
Laya and the Gasa hot spring makes the trek
one of our favorites. The lower altitude treks through
pine forests, alive with rhododendron, birds and
butterflies and visits to farm houses and temples
offer a delightful experience of the Bhutanese
country-side and culture. The Bumthang Trek in
the gentle valleys of Bumthang is especially
recommended for lovers of nature. Equally enchanting
is the Gantey Trek through Phobjikha, one of
the most beautiful valleys of Bhutan, which in spring
is brilliantly colored with rhododendrons and
magnolia. The Druk Path, between Thimphu and
Paro, with its fabulous views of the Himalayas on a
clear day, mountain lakes teeming with fish, and
rhododendron forests makes this a popular trail for
those visiting Paro and Thimphu.The best months for
trekking are March, April, May and September, October,
November.In northern Bhutan the climate is colder and
wetter than Nepal. The weather can change in a matter
of hours and when it moves in bad weather can last for
days. The starting points of the treks are also
generally higher than in Nepal. Detailed trekking maps
are not available and as Bhutan is sparsely populated,
provisions have to be carried on ponies or yaks which
must be arranged well in advance. Experience in

High Season : March, April, May, September,
October, and November
Climate : Days are normally warm. Nights can
at times be (general) very cool and in winter even
below the freezing point. Monsoon showers in summer
(heaviest in July, August) and sometimes even in
spring and Autumn.
Group condition : Minimum 3 but individual
is also acceptable.
WHAT TO
BRING
Personal Clothing : Practical and
comfortable clothes are appropriate (according to
season). Preferably cotton for summer. Woolen clothing
for the evenings and winter
For Trekking : Warm sleeping bag,
strong comfortable trekking boots, several pairs of
socks and vests, warm clothing (especially a down
jacket for higher altitudes) for the evenings, rain
coat or umbrella, torch (flashlight), water flask, a
hat or head scarf, sunglasses, sunscreen lotion,
disinfectant tablets for water, insect repellent,
antibiotic ointment and antihistamine cream for insect
bites (summer).
NOTE : For trekking a load of 25 kilos is
allowed
Recommendations : The trek is relatively
strenuous and demands top physical form. A physical
fitness check-up is a must. Even the experienced
trekker should prepare for 2 to 3 months prior.
