Suggested Itinerary
Day 01 : Arrival in Paro.
Meet the guide at the airport and transfer to hotel..
Day 02 : Sightseeing of Paro
Visit Drugyal Dzong, National Museum, Paro Rinpung
Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang. Overnight hotel.
Day 03 : Paro-Thimphu
Today, you will set off on foot or also possible on
horseback to Takstang Moanstery ( Tiger's Nest), cliging
on a sheer cliff of about some 500ft. Return downhill
and drive 2 and half hours to Thimpu-the capital town
of Bhutan.
Day 04 : Sightseeing of Thimpu.
Visit the Tashichho Dzong-the seat of central government,
where both the temporal and spiritual heads of the
country.Other points of interests are Memorial chorten,
Nunnery etc.
Day 05 : Thimphu-Punakha and Wangdi
Drive via Dochu la pass to Punakha. Visit Punakha
Dzong and Wangdiphodrag valley; overnight hotel.
Day 06 : Punakha to Phubjika
For 2 hours drive along the highway to east and then
after the village of Nobbing, you will approach the
diversion road to Phubjika valley ( one hour). Visit
the Gangtey Gompa, an old monastery set atop a hill
overlooking the valley. Phubjika is one of few glacial
valleys, very wide, beautiful and also the chosen
winter home of the black-necked Crane, migrating from
the Central Asian plateau.
Day 07 : Phubjika to Bumthang via Tongsa.
Drive via the Pele la pass( 3300 ft) to Bumthang.En
route you will visit the great white stupa built in
18th century. Overnight lodge
Day 08 : Bumthang
Full day sightseeing of central Bumthang, partly walking
to visit Wangdicholing Dzong, Kurjey & Tamshing
Lhakhangs; overnight lodge
Day 09 : Bumthang-Mongar
Drive via the Membertso Lake, Ura village, and Thrumshing
la pass to Mongar; overnight in Mongar (lodge)
Day 10 : Mongar-Tashiyangtse.
Follow the road to Tashigang until some 15 km before
taking a diversion to Tashiyangtse which is another
2 hours scenic drive climbing through the ridge. Terraced
fields and houses along the slope make splendid view.
Day 11 : Sightseeing of Tashiyangtse
This is a very recent administrative center;the place
still retains the charm of medieval towns at an altitude
of 1850m with pleasant temperature. Nearby a tall
impressive Chorten Kora is one of the only two temples
in Bhutan built in Nepalese style and is a host to
a great festival celebrated every year. Visit to the
old Dzong across the thatched bamboo bridge.
Day 12 : Tashiyangtse to Tashigang
Retrace your drive to Tashigang about 2 and half hours
drive. Stop in Doksum village en route where you will
get to see women busy in weaving. Tashigang, though
is a small town clustered together, acts as a trading
center for many remote regions of eastern Bhutan.
Visit
Day 13 : To Samdrup Jongkhar
This is a 6 to 7 hours long drive to the small frontier
town of Samdrup Jongkhar. The drive is adventurous
and scenic through the ever-changing vegetation. Along
the way, see Sherubste, the only college in the country,
the school for blind and the weaving center in Khaling.
Day 14 : Guwahati drop.
After brekfast drive to Guwahati ( 3 hours) and exit
to India.Tour ends
