Suggested Trip Itinerary
Day 01 : Arrival in Paro.
Meet the guide at the airport and transfer to hotel.
Rest of the day at leisure
Day 02 : Paro
Visit the north parts of Paro valley; the impressive
Drukgyel Dzong ruins (monastery fortress). Visit Paro
Kyichu Lhakhang, Ta Dzong museum, and Paro Rinpung
Dzong.
Day 03 : Paro - Thimpu
Drive by the two river valleys to the capital city
of Thimphu. After lunch visit the hospital for traditional
medicine, memorial chorten and the national library.
After lunch visit the handicrafts centre & the
school of Thangka painting.
Day 04 : Thimphu - Punakha
Scenic drive on the mountain route towards the former
capital of Bhutan passing through the Dochula pass
(alt. 10,000 feet); beautiful scenery of Himalayan
ranges. Descend to Punakha and Wangdi valleys.
Day 05 : Punkha - Thimphu
Return to Thimphu; hike to Choekortse monastery, for
an afternoon session of meditation, over-looking Thimphu
valley.
Day 06 : Thimphu
Hike to Tandin Ngey monastery for a full day session
of meditation. Return to hotel late afternoon.
Day 07 : Thimphu
Visit the open vegetable market; afternoon free.
Day 08 : Thimphu - Paro
Morning visit the Zilukha monastery for nuns; and
the Simtokha Dzong- oldest in Bhutan. After lunch
drive to Paro.
Day 09 : Paro - Trashigang monastery
After a short drive hike to this private and unique
monastery for an afternoon session of meditation,
return to hotel in Paro.
Day 10 : Paro
Morning hike upto the Taktsang retreat (the Tiger's
Lair, Alt. 3000 metres.) Lunch at Taktsang cafeteria.
Return to Paro and visit the town.
Day 11 : Paro - Departure
Transfer to Paro airport for morning flight
