To the north of Kathmandu, the unspoiled,
yet easily accessible Langtang and Ganesh ranges of
the Nepal Himalaya include some of the kingdom's most
varied and rewarding trekking. Starting out on the
airy crest of the Thare Danda, our route follows high
ridge trails through a region renowned for its colorful
mix of cultures and for its stunning scenery. Crossing
the Laurebina La (4600m./15088ft) to reach Gosainkund,
we have spectacular and ever-changing views of the
peaks of the Rolwaling and the distant Khumbu. Beyond
the Langtang Valley, we trek into the heart of the
Ganesh Himal and then walk out to the roadhead at
Betrawati along the breathtaking ridge of the Tiru
Danda. From this excellent vantage point, we have
fine views of the Annapurnas, Manaslu and the nearby
Ganesh peaks. For lovers of wild trekking, this is
one of the best 3-week trips in Nepal.
