Most important festival in Mt Everest Region is Mani Rimdu Festival which is occurs In November during festival Every Sherpa form Khumbu Region Participates on occasion., It consists of a nine day meditation cycle and ends with a public blessing ceremony and the world renowned Mask Dances at Tengboche Monastery.

The following are the approximate dates of Mani Rimdu events this year based on the Tibetan lunar calendar.

  • 4 Nov. 2005: Making of the sand mandala and tormas (sculptures made of made of coloured butter and barley flour representing symbolic offerings)
  • 16 Nov. 2006 : Drupchen ceremonies start.
  • 17Nov. 2006 : Practice dancing without masks
  • 18 Nov. 2006 : Wong (blessing ceremony for the general public)
  • 19 Nov. 2006 : Famous Mask Dances open to the public from 10.00 A.M. to 17.00 P.M. During the whole night there is traditional dancing by the Sherpa community

These dates were given by Tengboche Rinpoche, Abbot of Tengboche Monastery. These dates may vary by one or two days depending on local events.

Every year, in the Khumbu region of Nepal, this Buddhist Dance Drama is enacted by the monks of Tengboche Monastery. The site of this high altitude entertainment is the temple, or gompa, within the monastery itself. Situated on a generous plateau at an altitude of almost four thousand metres, the gompa is crowned by some of the highest mountains in the world: Thamserku (6608m), Kangteiga, (6779m) Taboche (6542m) and two kilometres or so away, the summit of Mount Everest (8848m) peers above the Lhotse-Nuptse Wall.

Outline Itinerary
Nov 11 : The group flight arrives in Kathmandu where we are met by our guide or representative and we transfer to hotel.****

Nov 12 : Sight seeing tours of Kathmandu Valley, includes Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Shyambhunath Stupa and Patan Durbar Square.

Nov 13 : Fly to Lukla. After lunch we begin trekking, mostly downhill to our first overnight halt at Phakding (2600m). Lodge

Nov 14 : Following the Dudh Kosi valley upstream we cross and re cross the river to a final steep climb to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar (3440m). Lodge

Nov 15 : Trek to Thame old Sherpa Villages along Bhote Koshi River valley. En route you have opportunity to see many Tibetan Nomads with hundred of Yak Caravana trading goods to Nmache Bazar

Nov 16 : Trek to Khumjung Villages another Sherpa Villages alt 3800

Nov 17 : We continue our trek now following the Imja khola (river) to reach Thyangboche (3860m). located on a ridge below the impressive north ridge of Kang Taiga (6685m). Lodge.

Nov 18 : Observation of Mani Rimdu Festival and Acclimatization.

Nov 19 : Observation of Mani Rimdu Festival and acclimatization.

Nov 21 : We complete our trek descending first to Phakding before a final short climb to Lukla.

Nov 23 : Day at Free for personal activities, shopping

Nov 24 : Final Day, transfer to Airport Tashidhele & Namaste
